Role Of France’s Royal Academy Of Art In European Art History

The Royal Academy of France, established in 1648, influenced The Royal Academy to establish in Britain (Culture.gouv.fr 2017).

They played the largest role in the development of European Art between 17th and 19th century.

They were the primary contributor to this era’s success. Their tradition of culling art through regular exhibitions, training in instructional institutions was their main contribution.

The academy is responsible for the creation of Academic art.

The movement’s structure was created by the amalgamation between Neoclassicism, Romanticism, and both Neoclassicism.

These artists included Joshua Reynolds, Joshua Couture, Jacques Louis David, William Adolphe Bouguereau, William Adolphe Bouguereau, and William Adolphe Bouguereau.

The tradition was made stronger by the governmental initiatives.

Cardinal Mazarin & Cardinal Richelieu dedicated themselves to the glory and advancement of the academy (Rietbergen 2014).
